Ok, even we will admit there was a little bit of sappiness in this week’s BROOKLYN KINDA LOVE. But isn’t that what romance is all about? Sure there’s fights, sex, and wild nights out, but there’s also cuddling, affection, and dare we say it…LOVE (it is in the title after all). And if there’s one thing that the Finale taught us, it’s that the love between our four couples is still incredibly strong. Sure Braniff and Frances have had major blowouts, but how adorable was it to see them looking at that wedding dress through the window? Frances even got a little choked up thinking about marriage, getting a home, and raising little Braniffs. Despite all of the turmoil we’ve seen between these two, we are definitely rooting for them to make it.

Wow, believe it or not there’s only one more episode of BROOKLYN KINDA LOVE left! And what a wild journey it has been. Look at any of these happy couples on the street and you would never guess that they’ve secretly had threesomes, battled substance abuse, and fought bitterly with their families. But that’s the magic of BROOKLYN, isn’t it? Going just a little deeper into what really makes a ‘mature’ relationship. Well don’t worry, there’s still plenty of drama left. Nikki and Chris are in the middle of a major skirmish at the moment. What they’re going through aren’t petty fights, but some serious “big picture” stuff. I’d been hired to host a show for the Playboy network about swingers. And I was nervous. Sure, I’d talked about sex often enough on television to have figured out exactly how to describe oral sex while still making it past censors (tip: say “down there” and do a lot of hand gesturing). My actual knowledge of swinging before I started the job was limited to witnessing the key party in The Ice Storm and a few images I hoped I’d one day forget but were still burned into my psyche from when I was flipping channels and paused too long on HBO’s Real Sex.

Ahhh, Nikki and Mark. What can I say about Nikki and Mark? Well, it was clear from moment one that she wore the pants in that particular relationship. And they both seemed younger – if not biologically, then at least emotionally – from the other couples that had traipsed through the house. I chatted with them about their relationship – they had actually known each other for a few years but had always been dating other people, which is why they’d only recently gotten involved – but the truth is, they (meaning she) seemed far less interested in talking to me than they were in interacting with one woman in particular. I’m not talking about Ashley or Meghan or even Nicoleta, but about the most alluring girl in the house: Lady Camera. Still, there was something quite sweet about how concerned Mark seemed to be about Nikki’s feelings -- though I got the feeling he’d learned to do that the hard way.
